Himachal Pradesh Government Takes Action Against False News Targeting CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu

The Himachal Pradesh government has decided to take strict action against the spread of false news on social media that targets Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. Naresh Chauhan, the Principal Advisor (Media) to the Chief Minister, stated that FIRs will be registered against those responsible for spreading misleading information.

Chauhan mentioned that there has been a deliberate effort to tarnish the image of the Chief Minister through unfounded propaganda on social media. In response, the Chief Minister’s Office has directed that FIRs be filed against the channels involved in this false propaganda. Legal action will also be taken to stop the circulation of baseless and malicious content.

Meanwhile, the Congress party has strengthened its position in the Himachal Pradesh state assembly by winning two of the three seats in recent bypolls. This brings the party’s strength in the 68-member state assembly to 40. The Congress won the Dehra and Nalagarh seats, while the BJP won the Hamirpur seat. The by-elections were held due to the resignation of three independent MLAs who later joined the BJP.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s wife, Kamlesh Thakur, won the Dehra seat, marking the first time the Congress has won this seat since it was created in 2012. Kamlesh Thakur won by a margin of 9,399 votes, receiving 32,737 votes against the BJP’s Hoshiyar Singh, who received 23,338 votes. Congress’ Hardeeep Singh Bawa won from Nalagarh in Solan district.
