Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu Clarifies CID Probe Over Samosa Mix-Up
In New Delhi, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu addressed a controversy regarding a CID investigation into samosas and cake meant for him but served to his staff. Sukhu clarified that the probe was about misbehavior, not the food itself. Deputy General CID Sanjeev Ranjan Ojha emphasized it was an internal matter and should not be politicized.
Opposition Leader Jairam Thakur questioned the labeling of the incident as anti-government, criticizing decision-making in the state. The CID launched an investigation to find out how the mix-up occurred during a program at the CID headquarters on October 21, where the CM was inaugurating a new cyber fraud reporting system.
The investigation revealed that an Inspector General officer had ordered food from a five-star hotel, which was mistakenly served to the staff. The report noted that only a sub-inspector knew the food was for the CM, but it was inadvertently served to others. BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari criticized the state’s financial management, linking it to broader economic issues.
