Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu Vows to Protect State’s Rights and Introduce Reforms

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, while presiding over a function organized by the Himachal Pradesh High Court Bar Association, stated that the current State Government would not compromise with the legitimate rights of Himachal Pradesh at any cost. He emphasized the judiciary’s pivotal role in democracy and expressed hope for continued cooperation between the judiciary and the State Government.

The government plans to file a revision petition in the High Court to take over the 210 MW Luhri hydro project stage-I, 66 MW Dhaula-Sidh Power Project, and 382 MW Sunni Power Projects. If the executing companies do not adhere to the terms and conditions, these projects will be acquired by the State. Sukhu highlighted the state’s efforts to safeguard its interests amid an investment drain in recent years.

He further stated that the government is moving towards a self-reliant Himachal Pradesh through ‘Vyavastha Parivartan’. Legal amendments have been made to improve sectors such as education, healthcare, and revenue. The positive outcomes of these reforms are reflected in the state government’s first two budgets, benefiting all sections of society.

Sukhu clarified that there is no financial crisis in Himachal Pradesh, citing the reinstatement of the old pension scheme and pensions for women as evidence of financial prudence. He also mentioned the consideration of a welfare scheme for senior advocates.

During the event, Sukhu honored advocates who donated blood and those who won sports competitions. Advocate General Anoop Rattan welcomed the Chief Minister, and Dilip Kayath, President of the Himachal Pradesh High Court Bar Association, presented a demand memorandum to Sukhu, who assured it would be considered sympathetically. Other dignitaries, including Chief Parliamentary Secretary Mohan Lal Brakta, MLA Kuldeep Rathore, former Minister Suresh Bhardwaj, Deputy Solicitor General Balram Sharma, and President of the Himachal Pradesh Bar Council Lavneesh Kaushal, were also present.
