Shimla (Himachal Pradesh), September 1: Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, assured that the state is not in a financial crisis but is implementing strategic financial management measures. He accused the BJP of politicizing the state’s financial condition and promised that all commitments to the public would be fulfilled.
Sukhu stated, “The work I am doing will ensure that by 2027, Himachal Pradesh becomes self-reliant and the most prosperous state in the country.” He clarified that reports of a financial crisis are misleading, describing the situation as a reform rather than a crisis.
He explained that restrictions on salaries are meant to instill discipline for the future and improve the system. The state faced a debt of Rs 85,000 crore and additional liabilities of Rs 10,000 crores owed to employees. Sukhu assured that all promises would be fulfilled.
The Chief Minister highlighted the numerous subsidies provided by the state government and emphasized the need for strict financial decisions to ensure discipline. He defended the government’s financial austerity measures as crucial for strengthening the economy.
Sukhu called on all sections of society to support the government’s efforts, noting that the state has only been under his administration for 19 months. He criticized the Union government for not providing Himachal Pradesh with its rightful shares and accused the BJP of making baseless claims.
He concluded by reiterating his commitment to reforming the state’s financial system and making Himachal Pradesh self-reliant by 2027.
