Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu Urges Opposition to Raise Public Issues in Monsoon Session

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has called on the opposition to raise public issues during the 10-day monsoon session of the assembly. He believes this will help the government serve the people better.

CM Sukhu said, “10 meetings have been organized to make the monsoon session historic. We want the opposition to raise all the issues. If they raise the issues of the public, then the government will benefit from it. The government will work further on the issues raised by them and serve the people of the state.”

He further mentioned that in most states, the Vidhan Sabha session usually lasts 6 to 8 days, but Himachal Pradesh has a tradition of a 10-day session, kept active by the Speaker. The session began with a ceremonial start, and CM Sukhu was welcomed with a guard of honour by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Harshvardhan Chauhan.

However, the Chief Minister expressed disappointment over the absence of opposition members from an all-party meeting. He urged the opposition to participate actively in the session.

Opposition leader Jai Ram Thakur criticized the government for unmet promises and emphasized their readiness to challenge the government on various issues, including law and order, corruption, and economic growth. Thakur remarked, “The opposition had already said that the Congress will not be able to fulfil the guarantee even in 10 births, which is being proved right somewhere today.”
