Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu Releases Song to Fight Drug Abuse
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has released a song titled ‘Nashe Se Tum Door Raho’ to raise awareness about the dangers of narcotic drugs. The song was produced by Shimla-based social activist Taruna Mishra.
The Chief Minister praised Taruna Mishra’s efforts and stated that the state government has taken many initiatives to bring awareness about the ill effects of drug abuse. He urged the youth to stay away from drugs to build a constructive and healthy society. He also mentioned that social activists and NGOs can support the government’s efforts to awaken society and that every section of society should come forward to combat this menace.
Taruna Mishra assured that she would continue creating awareness about drug abuse and its fatal effects.
Earlier, in June, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and Shimla police organized a bike rally in Shimla to spread awareness against drug abuse. Nearly 50 bikers participated in the rally to shun drugs. Local bike rider Lakshay Verma said, ‘The drug abuse is increasing in Himachal Pradesh each year, we hear each day about chitta (heroin). We have been organizing these kinds of awareness rallies. These kinds of sporting events are important, and we also try to do our best to educate youth.’
Another participant, Mukul, expressed concern over the increasing drug abuse, especially in the upper Shimla area. He emphasized the importance of police and big organizations in spreading awareness and organizing events. He also highlighted the role of parents and friends in counseling those who are addicted to drugs.
