Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu Visits Rampur After Cloudburst
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu will visit the Rampur area of Shimla on Friday to assess the damage caused by a recent cloudburst. Due to this visit, he will not be available in Shimla to hear public grievances.
A cloudburst in the Samej Khad area of Rampur on Thursday resulted in three deaths and about 40 people missing. The Indian Army, NDRF, and district administration officials are conducting rescue operations. The Indian Army has deployed three columns, an Engineer Task Force, and a Medical Team to assist in the rescue efforts.
Another cloudburst occurred in Barot village, Mandi, leaving 10 people missing. The SDRF team is managing the situation, and additional assistance is on standby.
Chief Minister Sukhu held an emergency meeting with senior state government officers to review the situation caused by five cloudbursts and heavy rains in different parts of the state. Reports indicate that three cloudbursts struck Kullu district, and one each in Mandi and Shimla districts. The CM reported that two bodies had been retrieved, over 50 people were missing, five roads and one national highway were blocked, and three bridges were damaged.
