In Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, two Congress legislators and one BJP legislator were sworn in by Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Pathania on Monday. This follows nine assembly by-elections where the Congress party retained its previous 40 seats after winning six.

Congress Party’s Victory

Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee Chief, Pratibha Singh, expressed joy over the victory, stating, “The people have given a befitting reply to the BJP’s attempts to topple the government.”

Chief Minister’s Statement

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu highlighted the BJP’s failure to destabilize the government and emphasized plans to make Himachal Pradesh self-reliant by 2027. He mentioned efforts in disaster restoration and the need for support from all parties, including the BJP.

Future Plans

CM Sukhu discussed meeting Union Minister Nitin Gadkari to request the construction of the Bhu-Bhu Jot tunnel and four-lane roads. He also mentioned the lack of a special package after a disaster and his discussions with the Prime Minister and Home Minister.

New Legislator’s Priorities

Kamlesh Thakur, the Chief Minister’s wife and newly elected Congress legislator, stated her priorities would be electricity, water, and service in her constituency. She assured her constituents of her dedication to their needs.
