New Appointments in Forest and Medical Departments

The Himachal Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, has approved the hiring of 2,061 Van Mitras in the Forest Department, removing the personal interview requirement. Additionally, 150 nursing positions will be filled at Dr. Radhakrishnan Government Medical College and Hospital in Hamirpur. The cabinet also sanctioned new teaching positions in various medical departments.

Infrastructure and Safety Enhancements

A new Sub-Divisional Police Officer’s office will open in Nadaun, Hamirpur, and a Fire Post will be established in Indora, Kangra. A new Police Post will be set up in Shinkula, Lahaul-Spiti. The State Disaster Response Force will now be under the Additional Director General of Home Guards and Civil Defence, with Home Guards deputed for up to two years.

Environmental and Technological Advancements

To promote electric vehicles, the cabinet plans to expand EV charging stations along six green corridors. Automated testing stations for vehicle fitness will also be established. The cabinet accepted recommendations for the 450 MW Shongtong Karchham Power Project, aiming for completion by 2026-27.

Parking and Eco-tourism Developments

A new sub-committee will review parking facilities in Shimla, chaired by Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi. The Eco-tourism Policy 2017 will be amended to align with the Forest Conservation Act 2023, promoting eco-tourism in the state.
