Himachal Pradesh Cabinet Approves New Projects and Initiatives

The Himachal Pradesh state Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, held a meeting on Friday to discuss and approve several important projects and initiatives.

Hydro Power Projects

The Cabinet decided to hand over the 780 MW Jangi Thopan Powari Hydro Power Project to HP Power Corporation Ltd. Additionally, the 1630 MW Renukaji and 270 MW Thana Plaun Pump Storage Hydro Electric Projects were also allotted to the same corporation.

New Committee for Health

A new Cabinet Sub Committee was formed to strengthen Rogi Kalyan Samitis. This committee will be chaired by Health Minister Col. (Dr.) Dhani Ram Shandil and includes members such as Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Anirudh Singh, Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani, and Ayush Minister Yadvinder Goma.

Educational Improvements

The Cabinet approved the elevation of the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) in Solan as the top institution for school and teacher training. It also decided to strengthen 12 District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs) for professional development of teachers.

Support for Students

The ‘Dr Yashwant Singh Parmar Rin Yojna’ will now extend benefits to meritorious students aspiring to study professional and vocational courses abroad, offering educational loans at a one percent interest rate.

Healthcare Enhancements

The Cabinet approved the establishment of 50-bedded critical care blocks at Civil Hospital Dehra in Kangra district and Civil Hospital Paonta Sahib in Sirmaur district. Offices of Superintending Engineer of HPSEBL and Block Medical Officer will also be set up in Dehra.

New Police Stations and Posts

A new police station will be opened at Sissu in Lahaul-Spiti district, and 18 posts will be created to make it functional. Additionally, six posts will be created for the newly opened police post at Hatli in Chamba district.

Other Approvals

The Cabinet decided to fill up 100 vacant posts of Assistant Forest Guards, 33 posts in the department of printing and stationery, and various other posts in different departments. Six mobile forensic vans will also be provided to the department of forensic services to enhance its capabilities.
