Himachal Pradesh is facing a huge challenge after devastating floods and heavy rainfall caused losses exceeding Rs 700 crore. The disaster has destroyed infrastructure and claimed lives across the state.

Government’s Response

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu revealed that the damage since June 27 has been extensive. He assured that the government is closely monitoring relief and search operations in the affected areas.

Deputy CM’s Visit

Deputy Chief Minister and PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh visited the flood-hit regions. He stated that reopening 193 closed roads and restoring critical bridges are top priorities. He also called for swift assistance from the Union government.

Search Operations

Director General of Himachal Pradesh Police, Atul Verma, confirmed that search operations are ongoing and will continue until all missing persons are found. He praised the efforts of NDRF, SDRF, and emergency responders.

Appeals for Assistance

Deputy CM Vikramaditya Singh emphasized the need for collective action and urged elected MPs to advocate for substantial aid from the Centre. Public figures like Kangana Ranaut have also been involved in discussions about assistance.

Chief Minister Sukhu mentioned that some bodies have been recovered, but 55 people are still missing. The focus remains on recovery and rebuilding, with officials pledging relentless support until normalcy is restored.
