Himachal CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu Launches Rs. 184 Crore Development Projects in Hamirpur
Shimla (Himachal Pradesh), August 17: Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for various development projects worth Rs. 184 crore in Hamirpur district.
Multipurpose Sports Complex
The CM laid the foundation stone for a state-of-the-art Multipurpose Sports Complex at Kharidi in Nadaun, costing Rs. 65 crore. This facility will include an eight-lane swimming pool, a shooting range, and areas for wrestling, boxing, Kabaddi, yoga, table tennis, and badminton. The CM emphasized the importance of sports in promoting a healthy lifestyle and keeping youth away from drugs.
Farmers’ Training Centres
Two farmers’ training centres will be set up at Dhanpur (Bara) and the Agriculture Complex in Hamirpur, costing Rs. 4.50 crore. These centres aim to empower farmers with knowledge, skills, and modern agricultural practices. Training will cover minor irrigation techniques, crop diversification, and advanced vegetable production methods.
Road Infrastructure
The CM also laid the foundation for widening and strengthening five roads, including Pattha-Salauni-Deothsidh (Rs. 35 crore), Rangas-Kangu-Dhaneta (Rs. 49 crore), Gandiyan-Badaitar (Rs. 5.67 crore), and Paniyala-Kashmir & Dhaneta-Barsar roads (Rs. 16 crore). These projects aim to improve transportation facilities in the area.
Centre of Excellence
A Centre of Excellence at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bara, was inaugurated, costing Rs. 1.31 crore. This facility will provide high-quality vegetable saplings to farmers, with a production capacity of 3.50 lakh saplings annually, covering 1,400 hectares of agricultural land.
Support for Farmers
The state government will purchase naturally grown wheat at Rs. 40 per kg and maize at Rs. 30 per kg. The minimum support price for cow milk has been raised from Rs. 32 to Rs. 45 per litre and for buffalo milk from Rs. 47 to Rs. 55 per litre. A milk processing plant is being established at Daghwar in Kangra district, costing Rs. 250 crore, with an initial capacity of 1.50 lakh litres per day, expandable to three lakh litres per day.
College of Horticulture and Forestry
The CM inaugurated the newly constructed PG Block at the College of Horticulture and Forestry in Neri, completed at Rs. 3.46 crore. He also laid the foundation stone for a Girls Hostel at the College, costing Rs. 3.62 crore.
Ayush and Sports Minister Yadvinder Goma, MLAs Suresh Kumar and Ranjeet Rana, and other senior leaders were present at the event.
