Himachal CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu Celebrates Independence Day with Major Announcements
On August 15, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu celebrated the 78th Independence Day by hoisting the national flag at Shaheed Bhuvnesh Dogra Ground in Dehra, Kangra district. He took the salute from various police and armed forces contingents, led by Commander Sachin Hiremath.

The 78th Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm across Himachal Pradesh. Events were held at different levels, featuring the hoisting of the Tricolour and impressive parades by various contingents.

CM Sukhu made several important announcements:
- Opening of new offices for Superintending Engineers and Block Medical Officer in Dehra.
- Resolution of ownership claims for Pong Dam oustees under the Forest Rights Act.
- Transformation of 10 Gram Panchayats into green panchayats with solar power projects.
- Monthly assistance of Rs. 1000 for children from single-woman households, destitute women, widows, and disabled parents under the ‘Chief Minister Sukh Shiksha Yojana’.
- Clearing of pension arrears for pensioners over 75 years old within this financial year.
- Introduction of a new scheme to resolve around 15,000 pre-GST legacy cases.
Economic and Social Initiatives
CM Sukhu highlighted the state’s efforts to improve its financial situation, generating over Rs. 2200 crore in additional revenue. He also paid tribute to Himachal Pradesh’s brave soldiers and addressed the challenges faced by the state due to decisions made by the previous government.
He assured that the Himcare scheme would continue in government health institutions and announced the filling of various medical posts. Additionally, he mentioned the introduction of universal cartons for apples and the increase in minimum support prices for various agricultural products.
Employment and Legal Resolutions
The state government has created over 31,000 employment opportunities in its 20-month tenure. Special Lok Adalats have resolved more than 1,87,500 revenue cases.

New Initiatives
He also launched a week-long ‘Kardata Samvad Abhiyan’ to provide information on tax rules and introduced a web portal for grievance redressal. Laptops were distributed to various panchayats to enhance their work efficiency.
