Himachal CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu Announces Rs 201 Crore Milk Plant in Kangra
The Himachal Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, has allocated Rs 201 crores for a new milk processing plant in Kangra district. The plant, developed with the National Dairy Development Board, will produce various dairy products and is expected to boost the economy of Kangra, Hamirpur, Chamba, and Una districts.
This state-of-the-art plant will have an initial capacity of 1.50 lakh litres per day, expandable to 3 lakh litres per day. It will produce curd, lassi, butter, ghee, paneer, flavoured milk, khoya, and mozzarella cheese. The project aims to benefit the dairy farming community and enhance the state’s rural economy.
Chief Minister Sukhu emphasized the government’s commitment to farmer welfare, noting that milk procurement rates have been increased. Cow milk rates have risen from Rs. 32 to Rs. 45 per litre, and buffalo milk to Rs. 55 per litre. The government plans to introduce more welfare schemes to support farmers and strengthen the rural economy.
