Hezbollah Rockets Hit Haifa Amid Israel’s Airstrikes in Lebanon
On Monday, the Israeli port city of Haifa was struck by rockets launched from southern Lebanon. This attack was in response to Israel’s intensified airstrikes targeting Hezbollah strongholds in Beirut. The Israeli army reported that five rockets hit Haifa, injuring at least ten people and damaging a restaurant, a house, and a main road. Sirens also sounded in Tiberias, and alerts were activated in Upper Galilee after detecting 15 rockets, some of which were intercepted.
Israel’s airstrikes in Beirut caused significant destruction, targeting key Hezbollah sites, including a building near Lebanon’s international airport and a former Hezbollah broadcaster’s location. The Lebanese Health Ministry has not yet released casualty figures from these strikes.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited an IDF base near the Lebanese border, where he assessed the security situation with military leaders. He praised the IDF soldiers for their efforts in dismantling Hezbollah’s terrorist infrastructure. Netanyahu referred to the soldiers as heroes and commended their actions across the region.
This conflict follows a significant attack by Hamas on October 7 last year, where over 1,200 people were killed, and more than 250 hostages were taken, with 100 still in captivity.
