Hemant Soren to Take Oath as Jharkhand Chief Minister Today

Hemant Soren is set to take oath as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand today at 5 pm. This follows the resignation of Champai Soren, who stepped down just five months after taking office.

Governor’s Invitation

Jharkhand Governor CP Radhakrishnan invited Hemant Soren to form the government. Soren, along with leaders from the INDIA bloc, visited Raj Bhavan for the appointment.

Soren’s Statement

Taking to ‘X’, Hemant Soren expressed his gratitude to the Governor and criticized the opposition, stating that the end of the “anti-democracy conspiracy” has begun.

Oath-Taking Ceremony

The oath-taking ceremony is scheduled for July 7, coinciding with Lord Jagannath’s day. Jharkhand Mukti Morcha leader Supriyo Bhattacharya confirmed this after meeting the Governor.

Champai Soren’s Resignation

Champai Soren resigned from the post just five months after taking the oath, paving the way for Hemant Soren to take over. Champai Soren took oath as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand on February 2 this year.

Legal Background

Hemant Soren was released from Birsa Munda Jail on June 28 after nearly five months following bail from Jharkhand High Court in a money laundering case linked to an alleged land scam. He had resigned as Chief Minister before his arrest on January 31.
