Hemant Soren has been sworn in as the 13th Chief Minister of Jharkhand. The ceremony took place at Raj Bhavan in Ranchi, where Jharkhand Governor CP Radhakrishnan administered the oath of office.

Mahua Maji’s Statement

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) MP Mahua Maji expressed confidence in Soren’s leadership. She said, “JMM is a family, not a party, and all the members of this family unitedly run the government for the people. His vision to make Jharkhand the number one state will be fulfilled now.”

Champai Soren’s Congratulations

Former Chief Minister Champai Soren congratulated Hemant Soren and all alliance members. He said, “I congratulate ‘Hemant Babu’ for the formation of the new government.”

Background

Hemant Soren was released from Birsa Munda Jail on June 28 after nearly five months following bail from Jharkhand High Court in a money laundering case linked to an alleged land scam. He had resigned as Chief Minister before his arrest on January 31. He was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in January on charges related to an alleged land scam and money laundering.
