Hemant Soren Becomes Jharkhand Chief Minister for the Third Time

Hemant Soren has been sworn in as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand for the third time on July 4. After proving his majority in the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly, he is set to expand his cabinet.

Soren was granted bail on June 28 after spending five months in jail due to charges related to a land scam and money laundering. His return is expected to strengthen the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), which won three seats in the Lok Sabha elections and secured a majority in the 2019 assembly elections.
