She further added, ‘I left from parliament at 6:30 PM, it’s been 6 hours and I’m still stuck on the roads!! Traffic is at a standstill, people’s cars have run out of fuel and little kids are stranded in cars!! It is indeed a nightmare!! So much for the much touted and publicised Delhi model!!’

Meanwhile, Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Vinai Kumar Saxena, has cautioned all officers to remain alert due to the ongoing heavy downpour. ‘Have cautioned all officers to remain alert in light of the ongoing heavy downpour in Delhi. Apart from ensuring minimum inconvenience to people in general, they are advised to specifically address issues at sites prone to waterlogging, including coaching centres,’ Saxena posted on X.

The rain provided relief from the humid weather but resulted in traffic congestion throughout the city. Due to the bad weather, Delhi witnessed 10 flight diversions between 7:30 PM and 8:00 PM. Air India issued an advisory warning that flights to and from Delhi may be affected.

In the Sabzi Mandi area, a house collapsed due to the heavy rain, and fire brigade officials were delayed in reaching the site because of traffic congestion. The incident occurred at 8:57 PM.

Severe waterlogging was reported near AIIMS, and traffic jams were seen in the ITO area.
