Heavy Rains Postpone Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand

In Garhwal, Uttarakhand, the Char Dham Yatra has been postponed for July 7 due to heavy rain warnings from the Meteorological Department. Garhwal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey issued the orders.

Vehicular movement on the Badrinath National Highway in Chamoli district has been blocked by debris at five locations. Chamoli Police posted on X about the blockage near Bhanerpani, old Nagar Panchayat Pipalkoti, Kanchen Ganga, Chhinka Paagalnala, and Helang.

On Friday, traffic was halted for several hours due to debris near Angthala and between Bhanerpani and Nagar Panchayat Pipalkoti. Local authorities cleared the debris, resuming traffic after three hours.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for extremely heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand and other states, including Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh, from July 3 to July 6. Isolated heavy rains are expected in Uttarakhand on July 7.
