Heavy Rains in Ujjain Cause Shipra River to Flood Temples and Lead to Tragic Wall Collapse

Continuous rain in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, has caused the Shipra River to overflow, submerging several temples. Devotees, who came for Shraddha Paksha, are now forced to offer prayers from the riverbanks.

A pandit at one of the temples said, “There has been continuous rain since yesterday and due to this the Ram Ghat has submerged. People have come here for Ekadashi and to offer Pind Daan that’s why it is crowded today. The Home Guards are present here for the safety of the people.”

Naveen, an SDRF official, added, “There has been continuous rain here since the last two days. The SDRF team has been continuing their duty to rescue people in case of any emergency.”

Additionally, the IMD has predicted an alert for heavy rain in the state. State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and Home Guards have also been deployed at the Ghats for the safety of the devotees.
