Heavy Rains in Thane Cause Tree Falls and Injure Children

Heavy rains lashed several parts of Thane, Maharashtra, causing incidents of tree falls and wall collapses. The Thane Fire Brigade Department responded to numerous rescue calls in the last 24 hours, including two fire incidents and 42 tree falls. People also reported wall and hoarding collapses.

On Friday, six children were injured when a shed fell in a football ground in Thane. The Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC) of the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) reported that the incident occurred on June 21 at around 11:42 pm. The injured children were admitted to Bethany Hospital, Thane, for treatment.

Chief Scientist of the India Meteorological Department, Sunil Kamble, announced that a yellow alert for rain has been issued for Mumbai, Thane, and Raigad areas for the next 2-3 days. He mentioned that the pace of rain in Mumbai had reduced but is now gaining momentum, with the monsoon current becoming moderately strong. A yellow alert has also been issued for the entire Vidarbha region, while the rest of Maharashtra will continue to experience moderate rain.
