New Delhi, August 10: Heavy rains in Delhi led to an old Neem tree uprooting and falling on a Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) school wall. The wall then collapsed on two motorcyclists who were seeking shelter from the rain.

Details of the Incident

The incident occurred in the Dichaon area of Delhi on Friday. A police official explained, “Due to heavy rain, an old and big Neem tree got uprooted and fell on the MCD school wall. This uprooted tree along with the school wall fell on the riders of two motorcycles, who were under the tree to save themselves from rain.”

Injured Individuals

The injured have been identified as Rajesh (25) and Ashok Kumar Yadav (32). They were taken to Rao Tula Ram Memorial Hospital by the Police Control Room (PCR) and have since been discharged. Both motorcycles were damaged in the incident.

Impact of the Rains

Parts of Delhi-NCR experienced heavy rains on Friday, leading to traffic jams and waterlogging in some areas of the national capital. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), significant rainfall was recorded in parts of Delhi, such as Palam, from 8:30 am to 10:30 pm.
