On Sunday, several areas in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, experienced waterlogging due to heavy rains. The municipal corporation is actively working to clear stagnant water from low-lying areas such as Thitagudi, Pradyantheru, and Mettutheru, where traffic has been affected.

Efforts to Combat Waterlogging

Rameswaram Municipal Chairman KE Nazarkhan stated that measures are being taken to prevent water stagnation, regardless of rainfall intensity. He assured that stagnant rainwater was promptly removed by municipal workers and emphasized that efforts will continue on a war-time basis to ensure no water accumulation.

Weather Warnings and Temperature Changes

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rainfall warning for Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka from November 2 to 8. IMD scientist Soma Sen Roy reported that heavy rainfall is expected in Tamil Nadu and Kerala for the next few days, while most of the country will remain clear. Additionally, a gradual decrease in temperatures by 2-3°C is expected over Northwest and East India from November 3 to 7.

In the Doab region, temperatures have already dropped by 2-3°C in the last 24 hours, with further decreases expected. However, temperatures in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and the South Doab region remain 2-4°C above normal.
