Heavy Rains Cause Traffic Jams in Delhi and NCR
New Delhi, September 17: Heavy rains hit parts of Delhi-NCR on Tuesday evening, causing major traffic jams and waterlogged roads. Commuters were stuck in long queues, especially in areas like Noida Sector 14, Delhi’s South Extension, and Ghaziabad.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light rainfall for the region on September 17. For September 18, a yellow alert has been issued with expectations of light to moderate rainfall and thunderstorms, along with strong winds of 25-35 kmph.
Last week, the IMD forecasted light to moderate rainfall over parts of West and Central India. Areas like Konkan, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Gujarat are expected to experience varying levels of rainfall.
Additionally, isolated extremely heavy rainfall is likely over Chhattisgarh and East Madhya Pradesh from September 15 to 17, and West Madhya Pradesh on September 17 and 18. A deep depression over Gangetic West Bengal and Bangladesh is expected to cause very heavy rainfall in Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, and East Madhya Pradesh.
East and Northeast India are also expected to see widespread light to moderate rainfall, with very heavy rainfall likely over Assam and Meghalaya from September 18 to 20.
