Heavy Rains Cause Landslides in Karnataka: Roads Closed and Lives Lost
Due to heavy rains, the Superintendent of Police in Dakshina Kannada, Karnataka, has announced the closure of National Highway 275 between Sampaje and Madikeri. This closure will be in effect from July 18 to July 22, every day from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM, to prevent landslides and rock falls. All vehicles, except for emergency services and disaster-related work, are prohibited from traveling on this route during these hours.
Vehicles traveling to Mysuru, Bengaluru, and other places via Dakshina Kannada district are advised to use the alternative route via Charmadi Ghat Kotigehara. The district administration has taken this measure to ensure the safety of travelers and prevent any potential accidents. Commuters are requested to cooperate and plan their journeys accordingly.
Meanwhile, in Uttar Kannada, a massive landslide triggered by heavy rains near Shirur village in Ankola Taluk on National Highway 66 resulted in the deaths of four people, with three others missing.
