Four Dead and One Missing

Heavy rains in Switzerland have caused severe flooding and landslides, leading to the deaths of at least four people and one person missing. The Valais canton police reported that a man was found dead in a hotel in Saas-Grund, likely taken by surprise by the rapidly rising waters. Additionally, three people died in a landslide in the Maggia Valley.

The floods, triggered by storms and melting snow, have caused rivers like the Rhone to overflow, leading to road closures and evacuations. Hundreds of people in the Canton of Valais have been evacuated due to the flooding, which has also caused significant damage in the valleys near the Rhone River in Upper Valais. The Swiss army has been called in to provide further support.

Meanwhile, in France, the department of Haute-Saone, near the Swiss border, was also hit by strong storms with intense rainfall and strong winds.
