Tragic Loss of Lives

In Agartala, Tripura, heavy rainfall has led to devastating landslides. On Thursday, a landslide in Santirbazar, South Tripura, claimed the lives of ten people. Seven members of two families in Ashwini Tripura Para were among the victims. Earlier, on Wednesday, three members of another family in Devipur also lost their lives due to a landslide.

Government Response

The state government of Tripura expressed deep sorrow over the disaster and extended condolences to the bereaved families. They announced financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh for the affected families. The government urged the people to come together and cooperate during this difficult time. They assured that the administration is fully committed to providing all necessary support to the victims.

Impact and Relief Efforts

Over 30,000 people have been affected by the heavy rains. The state government has set up 321 relief camps to help those in need. Schools, colleges, and universities have been closed due to the extreme weather. Chief Minister Manik Saha explained that the torrential rain was caused by a sudden depression in the Bay of Bengal, affecting almost every district. He assured that relief teams have been deployed and more help is on the way from other states.
