Heavy Rains and Flood Warnings in Rajasthan
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heavy rainfall warnings for several regions in Rajasthan as the state prepares for another round of intense monsoon showers.
Red Alert Areas
A red alert has been issued for Sawai Madhopur, Karoli, and Bharatpur. These areas are expected to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms at isolated places. Waterlogging is anticipated, which could disrupt daily life.
Orange Alert Areas
An orange alert has been issued for Jaipur City, Alwar, Sikar, Churu, Jhunjhunu, Dhaulpur, Dausa-Srinagar, Bikaner, Tonk, and Hanumangarh. These regions can expect light to medium rainfall, with heavy rainfall at isolated places. Flooding of drainage areas is also a concern.
Yellow Alert Areas
Kota, Boondi, Nagaur, Bhilwada, Bara, and Chittorgarh are under a yellow alert. These areas could see light to medium rainfall.
Precautions and Warnings
Residents are advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions. The IMD has specifically advised against seeking shelter under trees and staying away from drains. It is also recommended to avoid going out unless necessary.
Rainfall Records
Karuali recorded 38 cm of rainfall, and Panchana recorded 28 cm till 8:30 a.m. on Sunday.
Previous Incidents
Earlier on August 1, three people, including a seven-year-old girl, went missing and are feared drowned after rainwater entered the basement of a house in Jaipur, causing flooding.
