The Indian Meteorological Department has warned of very heavy rainfall in Raigad and Ratnagiri until Friday morning. Areas like Palghar, Thane, Mumbai, and Sindhudurg are also expected to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall.

Due to this warning, all schools and colleges under the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) area will be closed on Friday. The BMC has asked teachers to inform guardians and take necessary precautions. Citizens are advised to stay indoors unless necessary.

In the past 24 hours, Mumbai city recorded 44 mm of rainfall, with 90 mm in the Eastern suburbs and 89 mm in the Western suburbs. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has reviewed the situation and assured help to flood-affected areas. Traffic at Tamhini Ghat on the Raigad-Pune route has been halted due to a landslide.

Shinde mentioned that water is still present on roads and in houses in Pune. The District Collector, Municipal Commissioner, and Police Commissioner are on alert. Teams of NDRF and SDRF have been deployed, and army and airlifting teams are on standby.

Shinde has appealed to people to cooperate with the administration and move to safer places. An orange alert has been issued in Mumbai for the next three hours, and 222 water pumps are working to drain excess water.
