In Bengaluru, Karnataka, continuous heavy rainfall has led to significant waterlogging, particularly affecting the Kendriya Vihar Apartment in Yelahanka. Residents faced challenges as rainwater flooded the area, submerging vehicles in knee-deep water.

The city has experienced widespread flooding, prompting the deployment of disaster response teams. The Bengaluru Metro’s Purple Line services were briefly halted due to a fallen tree on the tracks, but services resumed shortly after.

In response to the weather conditions, the Karnataka government declared a holiday for all schools and colleges. The Bengaluru Urban District collector, Jagadeesha, issued this directive as the city braces for more rain.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an ‘orange’ alert, forecasting continued heavy rainfall with temperatures around 26 degrees Celsius. Neighboring districts like Chamarajanagar, Mandya, and Ramanagara are also expected to experience similar weather until October 17.

The continuous downpour has disrupted daily life, causing waterlogging and traffic congestion. The Yelahanka Zone recorded the heaviest rainfall, with Chowdeswari Nagar receiving 73.5 mm and Jakkur 65.5 mm.

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) reported that its disaster management team has addressed flooding in 102 homes, with water affecting 142 residences and 39 trees falling. The BBMP has cleared 26 of these trees, and flooding was noted in 52 areas across the city.
