Heavy Rainfall Alert in Tamil Nadu and Other States by IMD
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow rain alert for Tamil Nadu, predicting heavy rainfall over the next two days. Several parts of Tamil Nadu, including Tenkasi and Thoothukudi, experienced heavy rain on Saturday.
On September 26, Chennai, the state’s capital, faced heavy rain leading to waterlogging, power outages, and traffic snarls. From 8:30 am yesterday to 5:30 am today, Nungambakkam received 7.42 cm of rainfall, and Menambakkam received 7.12 cm.
Other regions like Tiruvallur, Vellore, Cuddalore, and Puducherry also saw significant rainfall on September 25. Valparai in Coimbatore recorded 8.0 mm, Thiruttani in Tiruvallur recorded 5.0 mm, Cuddalore recorded 0.2 mm, Vellore recorded 0.4 mm, and Puducherry recorded 0.3 mm of rainfall.
IMD has also issued yellow rain alerts for Puducherry, Kerala, South interior Karnataka, and coastal Karnataka for September 29. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in Gujarat, East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim today. Further heavy rainfall is predicted in Puducherry, Kerala, Arunachal Pradesh, Lakshadweep, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura on September 30.
