Heavy Rain in Bhopal: Dam Gates Opened and Red Alert Issued
In Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, heavy rainfall has led to the opening of two gates of Kaliyasot Dam and one gate of Bhadbhada Dam. Bhadbhada Dam is built on Bada Talab (upper lake) while Kaliyasot Dam is constructed over Kaliasot River, a tributary of Betwa river.
The regional meteorological office predicts continued rainfall for the next four days and has issued a red alert for eight districts, expecting over 204 mm of rain. These districts include Guna, Ashoknagar, Vidisha, Raisen, Narmadapuram, Sehore, and Harda.
Meteorologist BS Yadav warns of a well-marked low-pressure area that may intensify, causing more rain. In the past 24 hours, Damoh received the highest rainfall of 215 mm, followed by Jabalpur with 190 mm and Narsinghpur with 178 mm.
An orange alert has been issued for districts adjacent to the red alert areas, with expected rainfall between 115 mm and 204 mm. A yellow alert is in place for the remaining districts. The possibility of rain will remain for the next week, although the intensity may vary.
