Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], July 23: Rain poured down on parts of Mumbai early Tuesday morning. The city has been experiencing heavy rain for the past couple of weeks.

Earlier, the Mumbai Police issued an advisory asking citizens to avoid coastal areas due to the heavy rainfall. The police advised residents to leave their homes only if necessary and to take precautions. In case of any emergency, residents can call number 100.

The Mumbai civic authority also urged residents to avoid going out unless necessary, as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert for the city, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation stated, “The IMD has issued an orange alert (heavy to very heavy) for Mumbai today. People are requested to avoid going out unless necessary.”

An orange alert was also issued for Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg districts in Maharashtra’s Konkan region. Several roads in Mumbai have been waterlogged, and traffic jams have been reported due to the heavy rains.
