Vadodara, a city in Gujarat, India, faced a flood-like situation on Tuesday due to continuous heavy rainfall on Monday. The India Meteorological Department reported that Vadodara received 26 cm of rain. This caused the Vishwamitri River to overflow, leading to severe waterlogging in residential areas. People had to wade through knee-deep water, and traffic was heavily affected.

Water from the Ajwa and Pratappura Reservoirs was released into the Vishwamitri River, worsening the waterlogging. A resident mentioned that water entered houses in low-lying areas since Monday evening, forcing people to move to safer locations and causing food shortages.

In the Malpur area, heavy rain continued for three days, making it difficult for locals to walk on the streets. The Kashi Vishwanath Mahadev Temple complex in Vadodara was submerged, and the temple premises were closed on Tuesday. Locals said they had not seen such heavy rain in the last 30 years.

In Gandhinagar, vehicle number plates were scattered at Mahatma Mandir Underbridge, Sector-13, after water receded. The area had faced severe waterlogging due to the heavy rain.

Gujarat Relief Commissioner Alok Kumar Pandey stated that Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel held a meeting with district officials to ensure that people do not face shortages of electricity, medicine, and other essentials. He mentioned that 1653 people were rescued, and 17800 people were relocated. There have been 99 deaths during the monsoon season, with 3 deaths occurring in the last 24 hours.

According to the India Meteorological Department, various parts of Gujarat received significant rainfall from August 26 to August 27. Rajkot received 19 cm, Ahmedabad 12 cm, Bhuj and Naliya 8 cm, Okha and Dwarka 7 cm each, and Porbandar 5 cm.

Gujarat has been experiencing heavy rainfall over the past two days, causing parts of the state to be flooded and displacing hundreds of residents.
