Heavy Rain and High Tide Warnings in Mumbai: BMC and IMD Alert Residents
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has forecasted heavy to very heavy rainfall in Mumbai and its suburbs today. There is also a possibility of extremely heavy rainfall in isolated areas. Winds are expected to blow at speeds of 45 to 55 km per hour.
Additionally, the BMC has issued high tide warnings of 3.17 meters at 5:22 a.m. and 3.52 meters at 5:14 p.m. Low tides are predicted at 2.35 meters at 10:47 a.m. and 1.60 meters at 11:57 p.m. The average rainfall recorded between yesterday morning and today morning is 115.81 mm.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also forecast moderate to intense spells of rain in isolated places in Mumbai, Sindhudurg, and the Ghat areas of Pune. An orange alert has been issued, advising residents to avoid going out unless necessary.
Rainfall has caused severe waterlogging and traffic snarls in several areas of Mumbai. The city received 61.69 mm of rain between Friday and Saturday. High tide warnings of 3.69 meters were also issued for 4:39 p.m. yesterday. The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded were 29 and 24 degrees Celsius, respectively.
