Heather Knight Confident in England’s T20 World Cup Prospects After The Hundred Tournament

England captain Heather Knight is optimistic about her team’s performance in the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, thanks to their strong showing in the recent Hundred tournament. The domestic T20 competition concluded with Knight’s team, London Spirit, narrowly defeating Welsh Fire in the final at Lord’s.

Star Performers

Spinner Sarah Glenn was a standout, taking the second-highest number of wickets in the tournament with 12. All-rounder Nat Sciver-Brunt, along with Danni Wyatt, Alice Capsey, and Heather Knight herself, were among the top five run-scorers, boosting England’s prospects for the T20 World Cup.

Heather Knight’s Comments

Heather Knight expressed her satisfaction, saying, “I’m really pleased. It’s great to see the rest of the girls contributing and I’m very excited to meet up again in a couple of weeks.” She praised Nat Sciver-Brunt’s performance, noting, “Nat has been unbelievable. She’s barely got out and the way she’s played has been awesome.”

Danielle Gibson’s Potential

All-rounder Danielle Gibson also caught Knight’s attention with her performances. Gibson took eight wickets and scored a crucial 22 runs off just nine balls in the final. Despite her recent international debut, Knight believes Gibson has a strong chance to be included in the T20 World Cup squad.

Knight said, “I forget how young she is. We saw the game she played at Lord’s, a reverse-sweep to go and win the game against Australia last year, and that’s the sort of mindset that we want in that England side.” She added, “She’s a player that can impact a game in all three facets… She’s got real clarity about how she wants to play and that’s exactly what we want for her. I’m delighted for her.”
