Union Minister and former Chief Minister of Karnataka, HD Kumaraswamy, visited Nagamangala in Mandya district after a violent incident during a Ganapati procession on September 11. He assessed the situation and stated that it was under control, although he expressed his disappointment over the disturbance.

Kumaraswamy emphasized the importance of communal harmony, saying, “Communities should live as brothers and sisters–that is my vision.” He praised the efforts of the Superintendent of Police and the District Administration for their prompt action in controlling the situation.

On Thursday, Kumaraswamy criticized the Congress party in Karnataka, blaming their inefficiency and appeasement politics for the recurring communal tensions. He highlighted the need for the government to protect all communities.

Mandya District Collector Kumar reported that 54 people were arrested in connection with the incident. He also mentioned that seven bikes and six small shops were burnt, and a total of 15 bikes and a car were slightly damaged. Schools and colleges were declared closed as a precautionary measure.
