Hathras Stampede: Families Mourn Loss of Loved Ones

A tragic stampede occurred at a religious event in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, resulting in the deaths of 116 people and injuries to 18 others.

Vinod’s Tragic Loss

Vinod, who lost his wife, mother, and 16-year-old daughter, expressed his deep sorrow, saying, “I am left with nothing… everything is gone.”

Kamla’s Grief

Kamla, the mother of another 16-year-old victim named Roshni, shared her grief, stating, “I have been coming to Baba’s satsang for 20 years. Today, I went to attend satsang with my 16-year-old daughter and a stampede broke out around 2 in the afternoon. She was fine but as soon as she reached the hospital, she fell unconscious, later the doctors declared her dead.”

Other Victims

Kunwar Pal, uncle of a deceased 3.5-year-old child, mentioned that the child’s mother is still missing. Mehtab, the husband of the deceased Gudiya Devi, said, “I tried to stop her from attending the Baba’s Satsang many times but she did not listen. She had come for the Satsang with our daughter and two neighboring women. The two neighboring women and my wife died in the incident… My daughter is safe.”

Government Response

The Uttar Pradesh government has announced Rs 2 lakh compensation to the families of those who died. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered a thorough investigation into the incident. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured.
