Hathras Stampede: Chargesheet Filed Against 11, Bhole Baba Not Named
In New Delhi, the Uttar Pradesh police have compiled a 3200-page chargesheet against 11 individuals related to the tragic stampede in Hathras, which resulted in the deaths of approximately 121 people. Notably, Suraj Pal, also known as Bhole Baba, who organized the ‘Satsang’ event, is not mentioned in the chargesheet. Defence lawyer AP Singh highlighted this omission in a self-made video, stating that no case has been filed against Suraj Pal. The court has scheduled a hearing for Friday, October 4, to review the chargesheet.
The stampede occurred on July 2 in Fulari village, Hathras, during a religious gathering led by Bhole Baba. The event attracted over two lakh devotees, far exceeding the permitted 80,000 attendees. The judicial commission’s investigation is ongoing, and further developments are expected as the trial progresses.
