A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed in the Allahabad High Court by Advocate Gaurav Dwiwedi, seeking a CBI inquiry into the Hathras stampede that claimed 121 lives and injured 28. The Uttar Pradesh police are searching for ‘Bhole Baba,’ who held a Satsang where the stampede occurred. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has promised a thorough investigation to determine if the incident was an accident or a conspiracy. A team led by Additional DG Agra is tasked with providing a detailed report.

Search for Bhole Baba

The Uttar Pradesh police conducted a search operation at Ram Kutir Charitable Trust in Mainpuri district for ‘Bhole Baba,’ who held the Satsang. Deputy SP Sunil Kumar stated that Bhole Baba was untraceable. An eyewitness, Shakuntala Devi, described the stampede as occurring when people exited the Satsang on an uneven road.

Government’s Response

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized the need for a thorough investigation to uncover the truth behind the incident. He condemned any political exploitation of the tragedy and assured that those responsible would be punished. A forensic team and dog squad have been deployed to collect evidence at the site.
