Hashika Ramachandra Breaks Record at 77th Senior National Aquatic Championships 2024 in Mangaluru

77th Senior National Aquatic Championships 2024 Kick Off in Mangaluru

The 77th Senior National Aquatic Championships 2024 started with a splash at the International Aquatic Complex in Mangaluru, Karnataka. The first day saw 10 exciting events, including a new national record set by Hashika Ramachandra in the Women’s 400m Freestyle.

Record-Breaking Performances

Hashika Ramachandra from Karnataka broke a 13-year-old national record in the Women’s 400m Freestyle with a time of 4:24.70, surpassing the previous record of 4:25.76 held by Richa Mishra from Ranchi. Telangana’s Vritti Agarwal finished second with a time of 4:25.09.

Men’s 400m Freestyle

Aneesh S Gowda from Karnataka claimed the top spot in the Men’s 400m Freestyle with a time of 3:56.59. Fellow Karnataka swimmer Dharshan S came in second, clocking 4:01.39.

Other Notable Wins

Dhanush Suresh from Tamil Nadu won the Men’s 200m Breaststroke with a time of 2:18.85, followed by Karnataka’s Manikanta L at 2:20.66. In the Women’s 200m Breaststroke, Karnataka’s Thanya Shadakshari finished first with a time of 2:40.54, and Maharashtra’s Jyoti Bajirao Pati came in second at 2:42.01.

Backstroke and Butterfly Events

Akash Mani from Karnataka won the Men’s 100m Backstroke with a time of 56.15, followed by Maharashtra’s Rishabh Anupam Das at 57.28. Bengal’s Soubrity Mondal won the Women’s 100m Backstroke with a time of 1:05.51, and Odisha’s Pratyasa Ray finished second at 1:05.82.

B Benedicton Rohit from Tamil Nadu narrowly won the Men’s 50m Butterfly with a time of 24.22, while Maharashtra’s Mihir Ambre came in second at 24.37. Bihar’s Mahi Swetraj won the Women’s 50m Butterfly with a time of 28.33, followed by Karnataka’s Manavi Varma at 28.67.

Relay Races

Karnataka’s team of Shirin, Shalini R Dixit, Naisha, and Hashika Ramachandra won the Women’s 4 x 200m Freestyle relay with a time of 8:54.85. Maharashtra’s team of Deepti Raghunath Tilak, Diksha Sandip Yadav, Dakshajaa Dey Upreti, and Aditi Satish Hegde finished second at 9:01.15.

In the Men’s 4 x 200m Freestyle relay, Karnataka’s team of Aneesh S Gowda, Dharshan S, Kartikeyan Nair, and Dhakshan S won with a time of 7:42.90. The RSPB team of Sanu Debnath, Devansh Maheshkumar Parmar, M Vasuram, and Sathya Sai Krishnan M finished second at 7:47.64.
