Haryana Prepares for Assembly Elections
Over 2 Crore Voters Expected, Says Chief Election Commissioner Pankaj Agrawal
Chandigarh (Haryana), September 18 – Haryana’s Chief Election Commissioner Pankaj Agrawal announced that over 2 crore voters are expected to participate in the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections on October 5. The final voter list, published on August 27, includes 2,03,54,350 voters.
Voter Demographics
The voter list comprises:
- 1,60,75,957 male voters
- 95,77,926 female voters
- 467 transgender voters
Additionally, there are 2,31,093 senior citizens, 8,821 centenarians, 5,24,514 young voters aged 18 and 19, 1,49,142 voters with disabilities (PWD), and 1,09,217 service voters from the forces.
Polling Booths and Special Arrangements
A total of 20,629 polling booths will be set up, including:
- 150 model polling stations
- 125 booths manned by women
- 116 youth-oriented booths
- 92 booths managed by the PWD section
Security Measures
Haryana Police requested 225 companies of paramilitary forces for security. The Election Commission approved the request, with 70 companies arriving on August 25 and the remaining 155 companies expected on September 25.
Voting for the 90-member Haryana Legislative Assembly is scheduled for October 5.
