Alternative Identity Documents
If a voter does not have a voter ID card, they can still vote by presenting one of 12 alternative identity documents. These include:
- Aadhaar card
- MNREGA job card
- Photo passbook from a bank or post office
- Health insurance smart card from the Ministry of Labour
- Driving license
- PAN card
- Smart card from the National Population Register (NPR)
- Indian passport
- Pension documents with a photo
- Photo identity card from central or state government entities
- Official identity cards for MPs, MLAs, and MLCs
- Unique Disability Identification (UDID) card from the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment
Checking Voter Registration
Voters can verify their registration on the department’s website, ceoharyana.gov.in, or by calling the voter helpline at 1950. Being listed on the voter list is mandatory to cast a vote.
Upcoming Elections
Haryana will elect its 90-member state legislative assembly, with the counting of votes scheduled for October 8. In the 2019 elections, the BJP emerged as the largest party with 40 seats, while Congress won 30 seats.
