Haryana Congress Chief Udai Bhan Confident of Winning Over 70 Seats in Upcoming Elections
New Delhi [India], September 15: Haryana Congress chief Udai Bhan is optimistic that the party will win more than 70 seats in the upcoming assembly polls. Speaking on Saturday, Udai Bhan said, “The Congress party is getting huge public support wherever we go there is a huge crowd. In 2005, the Congress party got 67 seats and now we are getting more support than that, we hope that Congress will win more than 70 seats and form the government.”
This statement comes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s criticism of Congress in his rallies in Doda and Kurukshetra. In Kurukshetra, PM Modi referred to an incident in Karnataka where a Ganesha idol was briefly kept in a van meant for protestors during a protest. He accused Congress of appeasement and claimed that the party’s “royal family” wants to eliminate reservations for Dalits and other weaker sections.
PM Modi alleged, “This (Gandhi) family has always insulted OBCs, Dalits and tribals. When Nehru ji was the Prime Minister, he opposed reservation. He wrote a letter to the CMs of the states, proof of which is available. Not only this, Nehru ji had also said that if people with reservations get jobs, the quality of government services will deteriorate. When Indira Gandhi came, she also put a stay on the OBC reservation… Rajiv Gandhi also opposed reservation. In an interview, he even called those who got reservation as ‘Buddhu’.”
Haryana will go to the polls on October 5, and votes will be counted on October 8.
