Haryana CM Saini Congratulates BJP Leader Kiran Choudhary on Rajya Sabha Nomination

Chandigarh (Haryana), August 21: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini extended his wishes to BJP leader Kiran Choudhary as she filed her nomination for the Rajya Sabha by-election from Haryana. The nomination was filed in the presence of CM Saini and several MLAs.

Support from MLAs

CM Saini said, “I congratulate Kiran Choudhary on filing her nomination. All our MLAs are present here, and other MLAs have also supported her.” He mentioned that Jogiram Sihag, Ramniwas Surjakhera, Ram Kumar Gautam, Anoop Dhanak, Nayan Pal Rawat, and Gopal Kanda have given their letters of support to Kiran Choudhary.

Kiran Choudhary’s Gratitude

Kiran Choudhary expressed her gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, former Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar, and all supporting MLAs. She said, “I thank the entire top leadership of BJP, PM Modi, HM, Manohar Lal, party chief JP Nadda, CM Nayab Saini, and all MLAs who supported me.”

She also mentioned her family’s long-standing ties with the BJP and her decision to join the party influenced by the policies of PM Modi and former CM Manohar Lal Khattar.

Past Political Experience

Kiran Choudhary was previously fielded by the Congress party in 2004 but missed out on being elected due to the removal of six supporting MLAs by then Speaker of the Haryana Assembly, Satbir Singh Kadian. She remarked, “Deceit was done to me at that time, and I was betrayed. Congress leadership in Haryana knows very well how to betray.”

Upcoming Rajya Sabha Elections

The Election Commission announced that elections for 12 vacant Rajya Sabha seats will be held on September 3. The scrutiny of nominations will be on August 22, and the last date for withdrawal of candidatures is August 26 for some states and August 27 for others. The polling will be from 9 am to 4 pm, with the counting of votes at 5 pm on the same day.

There are vacant seats in Assam, Bihar, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Tripura, Telangana, and Odisha.
