Gurugram (Haryana) [India], July 11: Leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, who was part of India’s T20 World Cup team, was honored by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Thursday. The Chief Minister presented Chahal with a shawl and an idol, congratulating him for the team’s success.

Chahal was included in the 15-player squad but did not play in any matches during India’s unbeaten campaign. India secured a spot in the Super 8 on a challenging surface in New York, favoring pacers. In the West Indies, where pitches were tricky, Kuldeep Yadav was chosen over Chahal and delivered match-winning performances, taking 10 wickets in five matches with an economy of 6.95.

India became the first team to win the T20 World Cup unbeaten, defeating South Africa in the final in Barbados. This victory ended India’s 13-year ICC World Cup drought. The team arrived in New Delhi last week and met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence. Afterward, they traveled to Mumbai for a victory parade from Marine Drive to Wankhede Stadium.

The parade was a memorable event, with thousands of fans gathering to celebrate. At Wankhede Stadium, the Indian cricket players danced to dhol beats and were felicitated with Rs 125 crore by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
