Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini Approves Bonus for Kharif Crops
The Haryana Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, has approved a one-time bonus of Rs 2000 per acre for Kharif and Horticulture crops. This decision was made during a meeting in Chandigarh on Thursday.
Why the Bonus?
Farmers in Haryana have been facing high input costs due to adverse weather conditions this year. Heat waves and a 40% deficit in rainfall have increased water consumption and other crop-maintaining inputs. Additionally, pests and diseases, which are often linked to extreme weather, have caused significant crop damage.
Details of the Bonus
The bonus of Rs 2000 per acre will be given to all farmers, regardless of the crops they grow. The financial implication of this decision is around Rs 1300 crore. The first release of the bonus will be paid by August 15, 2024, to farmers registered on Meri Fasal Mera Byora (MFMB) by August 14, 2024. New farmers who register on MFMB will also receive the bonus as registrations progress.
