Chandigarh (Haryana), September 20: Dr. TVSN Prasad, the Chief Secretary of Haryana, emphasized the crucial role of Chief Vigilance Officers (CVOs) in fighting corruption within government departments. He instructed CVOs to create a detailed plan addressing five key issues in their departments to ensure transparency. This plan must be submitted to the state government within two weeks.

Dr. Prasad chaired a meeting with all CVOs, highlighting the importance of their reports and recommendations to senior officials for timely interventions. He assured that the needs of the staff would be met and that the efforts of CVOs would be recognized in their Annual Confidential Reports (ACRs) with a new column added to the ACR Performa.

The Chief Secretary stressed the role of CVOs in maintaining integrity, transparency, and accountability in government operations. He stated that their work is essential in protecting public trust and strengthening governance. Dr. Prasad reiterated that CVOs are key to the government’s anti-corruption strategy, helping to build a more transparent and accountable administration.

Dr. Priyanka Soni, Special Secretary of the Vigilance Department, presented a quarterly progress report, explaining that CVOs handle both preventive and punitive vigilance duties. They identify potential corruption risks, gather intelligence, educate stakeholders, and investigate corruption complaints, reporting findings to disciplinary authorities.

Vijayendra Kumar, Principal Secretary of the Human Resources Department, emphasized the need to empower CVOs further. ADGP Mamta Singh urged CVOs to study procurement manuals and conduct rules to enhance efficiency and maximize the use of IT for transparency.
