Haryana Assembly Elections: A Peaceful Voting Day
On October 5, Haryana held its assembly elections with a voter turnout of 67.90%, as announced by Chief Electoral Officer Pankaj Agarwal. The highest voting was in Sirsa district at 75.36%, while Faridabad recorded the lowest at 56.49%.
District-wise Voting Details
Ambala saw 67.62% voting, Panchkula 65.23%, Yamunanagar 74.20%, Kurukshetra 69.59%, Kaithal 72.36%, Karnal 65.67%, Panipat 68.80%, Sonipat 66.08%, Jind 72.19%, and Fatehabad 74.77%. Hisar recorded 70.58%, Bhiwani 70.46%, Charkhi Dadri 69.58%, Rohtak 66.73%, Jhajjar 65.69%, Mahendragarh 70.45%, Rewari 67.99%, Gurugram 57.96%, Mewat 72.81%, and Palwal 73.89%.
Polling Arrangements
Voting took place across 90 constituencies with 20,632 polling stations. Out of 2,03,54,350 voters, 1,38,19,776 cast their votes, including 74,28,124 men, 63,91,534 women, and 118 third-gender voters.
Security and Monitoring
To ensure smooth polling, webcasting was used for monitoring, and 97 central observers were deployed. Security was tight with 225 companies of Central Armed Police Forces, 29,462 police personnel, 21,196 Home Guard jawans, and 10,403 SPOs.
Inclusive and Accessible Voting
Efforts were made to make voting accessible with amenities like water, electricity, and ramps. Special polling stations were managed by youth, women, and Divyang employees. SVEEP activities promoted voter participation through local themes and events.
